MLS All-Star Game Tickets
The Major League Soccer All-Star Game, or the MLS All Star Game as it is often known as, is an annual soccer game sponsored by the MLS that features select players in a showcase exhibition. The game typically selects the most talented players from the MLS and pits them against an international club. The game is designed to bring together the biggest stars in the MLS and bring them to an international stage as they play against an international team. The MLS All Star Game is also designed to be a great honor for players in the league and recognize their position as top players in the sport.
Originally the MLS All Star Game was set up like traditional North American professional sports leagues and featured an “East vs. West” set up. However, due to the international popularity of soccer, or football, the new format was decided upon and has been a major success since the new format first appeared. While the first all-star game featured conference vs. conference teams, it also featured players who were selected by the coaching staffs in the MLS. Eventually the format for choosing players for the MLS All Star Game went to the fans and to this day the players who are selected to play in this all star showcase are chosen by the fans as well as selections made from managers and league commissioners who oversee the entire process.
The All-Star game typically takes place around the season’s mid-point and since the MLS has adopted the international format that it uses today, after the 2002 game, the MLS All Star team holds a 6-3 record. Typically their opponent is a premiere club that is selected by the MLS league. Past competitors have included Chelsea, Manchester United, Everton and West Ham United among other teams. Typically the location of the All Star game rotates and will be held in different home cities from different MLS teams and will feature a weekend full of events. This makes the MLS All Star Game not only a big event for fans to watch on television but for diehard MLS fans to come see live and in person so they can enjoy all of the leagues all-start festivities.
