NHL All Star Game Tickets
The National Hockey League All-Star Game, or the NHL All Star Game, is one of the most watched events in the National Hockey League and a favorite event among fans. This exhibition ice hockey game is designed, like many other all-star games, to be held at the midway point of the regular season of the NHL. The game is designed to bring some of the best players of the league together in an exciting match-up that typically creates some of the best play of the entire season.
This game, which takes the leagues biggest stars and puts them on opposing teams, also has a few unique aspects to it as well. The proceeds of this game actually go to benefit the pension funds of the NHL players. Leading up to 2011 the games were selected by coaches to compete in an east vs. west competition. The NHL All Star Game has also been replaced by things such as rookie skills competitions until the format change was announced during the 2010-2011 season. Starting in this season, the NHL decided that players would be selected in a ‘fantasy sports’ type draft. Instead of having East vs. West those behind the all star game felt that this would add a new and unique component to the game.
The player draft for the NHL All Star Game is actually conducted by the All-Star players themselves as the drafts are made. There are captains for each team who select players from a pool of potential teammates who are put in place by the operations department of the NHL and fan votes. The new format proved to serve it purpose and made the first year of the NHL ‘all-star draft’ one of the most popular in the history of the game. The draft opportunity allows fans to see match ups of players they may never have seen before and to see an entirely new approach to the ‘all- star game’ format. Every year the NHL All STar Game is held in a different city that has their own NHL team and is proceeded by a week of events that support the players and the NHL resulting in a must-see week of NHL action that fans never want to miss.
