Brooklyn Nets (New Jersey Nets) Tickets
Beginning in the 2012-2013 season the NBA team the New Jersey Nets will now formally be known as the Brooklyn Nets once they move across town into a new arena at Barclays Center in Brooklyn. This professional basketball team has been long associated with the greater New York City area and their new transition to the neighborhood of Brooklyn is adding to their time as one of the primary basketball teams of the greater NYC metropolitan area. Today the Brooklyn Nets are members of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference in the NBA and are one of two teams that calls New York City their home with the other NBA team being the New York Knicks.
The Brooklyn Nets were original members of the American Basketball Association (ABA). The the time they were the New York Nets and played in the league from 1967-1976 until they jointed the NBA under the same team name. During the early years of the team, this professional basketball organization was known for playing in a variety of New York City arenas and not having a specific arena to call their own. During these early years when the team played with the ABA, they were one of the most successful teams in the league and won two league championships during this time. They were also one of just four teams from the ABA to be allowed into the NBA when the two leagues merged.
After the Nets became part of the NBA they had a few years of struggles and eventually moved their home arena back to the area of New Jersey where the team first came together. Eventually the Nets found their stride as an organization, beginning primarily in 2001 when the New Jersey Nets made back to back appearances in the NBA Finals. Today the Brooklyn Jets can be found under their new name and in a new neighborhood of town and will be sporting black and white colors for both their home and away colors. While much is to be seen about how the Nets’ new home at the state-of-the-art Barclays Center will be, there is no denying that this teams long and detailed history makes them one of the most prominent organizations in the NBA today.
