As one of the two professional NFL teams to represent the greater New York metropolitan area, the New York Giants are known for having one of the biggest followings in the leagues today. They are actually based in East Rutherford, New Jersey although they have adopted the New York name. They are currently part of the National Football Conference, or the NFC, and are in the East Division of the conference.
The home games for the New York Giants can be seen at the famed state-of-the-art Met Life Stadium; a massive New Jersey stadium that the New York Giant actually share with New York City’s other NFL team; the Jets. The New York Giants not only represent one of the biggest fan bases in the entire NFL but they are also one of the oldest and most established teams in the league. The New York Giants first joined the NFL in 1925 and are the only team left from the group that was admitted into the league this year. Early on in their time as an organization, the New York Giants developed a rivalry with the Philadelphia Eagles; a fellow NFC East team and still maintains a rivalry with the team today.
Today’s New York Giants are not only known for being part of one of the most popular rivalries in the NFL but for being one of the most successful NFL franchises in sports today. To date, they are ranked at the third spot among most successful NLF franchises. They have four pre-Super Bowl NFL titles and four Super Bowl titles to their name. They have also had a slue of fall of fame players and NFL MVP players during their history as well.
Today’s New York Giants are not only known for their impressive current line up of players but for the leadership under their current quarterback Eli Manning. Manning was the Super Bowl XLII MVP and lead the team to their fourth Super Bowl title during their successful 2011 season. Manning, who continues to lead the New York Giants is still leading the New York Giants as they continue to be one of the most established and successful NFL teams in the league today.
