San Jose Earthquakes Tickets
The professional soccer club from San jose, California, the Earthquakes are one of the ten charter members of the MLS and some of the leading teams in the league today. The San Jose Earthquakes, originally known as the San Jose Clash, were not only one of the first teams in the league, but they actually took part in the first game in MLS history. During this game the team rallied to defeat D.C. United. This marked the beginning of a first winning season that would eventually lead to a successful career for the club.
After a slue of winning seasons, the players and coaching staff including head coach Dominic Kinnear were put on hiatus from the league and moved the Houston, Texas to become the Houston Dynamo. However, following the two year absence, the team resumed play as the newly named San Jose Earthquakes for the 2008 season. Since their return to the league they have remained the San Jose Earthquakes.
During their time as a team, the Earthquakes have won two MLS Cup titles in both 2001 and 2003. They also played in their first CONCACAF Champions Cup in 2002, where they made it to the quarterfinals of the tournament. They have also one MLS Supporters’ Shield awards. The club currently plays their home games at Buck Shaw Stadium in Santa Clara, California although they have played games in several stadiums including Spartan Stadium and Oakland-Alameda County Coliseum. The club also has plans for creating a brand new Earthquakes Stadium, which is set to be completed in 2014.
They are owned by Earthquakes Soccer, LLC and are under the management of Frank Yallop, a former Canadian International and Ipswich Town player. The team, who plays in the Western Conference of the MLS has had several jersey sponsors during their time together including their most recent sponsorship from Amway in 2011. Players such as Landon Donovan and Dwyane DeRosario as well as numerous other legendary players have all worn the San Jose Earthquakes uniforms. With numerous successful seasons under their belt and fans from all over the world, the San Jose Earthquakes team is currently one of the most successful clubs in the league
