The Toronto Maple Leafs started their journey in 1917. Initially, the team was the member of National Hockey Association. The Toronto team won the Stanley Cup in the NHL's inaugural season. The team was renamed as the Maple Leafs on Valentine's Day 1927. The team reached to the finals several times but could not able to win the Stanley Cup. The team faced the Montreal Canadiens in 1947 season finals. Player Ted "Teeder" Kennedy score the game-winning goal late in game six. The team won their first of three straight Cups. Success came to them quickly and they won another Stanley Cup in the following year. By doing so, the Leafs came ahead of Montreal for the most Stanley Cups in league history. In 1967, the Leafs and Canadiens met in the Cup finals. The Maple Leafs defeated the Canadiens and won the Stanley Cup. Keon won the Conn Smythe Trophy as Most Valuable Player of the playoffs. After facing some disappointing seasons, the team finished third in the Norris Division in 1992–93 season. They scored 33 points, which became the eighth-best overall record in the league. The Leafs had another good season in 1993–94. They finished at fifth place with 98 points. The Leafs have won 16 Stanley Cups and 5 Division Championships since their inception.
