Toronto Raptors Tickets
Although the Toronto Raptors may be one of the youngest teams in the NBA (National Basketball Association) today, this professional organization has made a great impact on the league since they first arrived in the city of Toronto Ontario in 1995. The Toronto Raptors were added in the mid 1990s as part of the NBA’s efforts to expand into Canada and were added to the league along with the Vancouver Grizzlies. However, in 2001 the Grizzlies relocated to Memphis, Tennessee, making the Raptors the only team from Canada in the NBA today. The team is currently in the Eastern Conference and part of the Atlantic Division of that conference.
Like many other expansion teams, when the Toronto Raptors first came together as an organization they struggled to find their groove as a day. They played their home games at the SkyDome in Toronto and quickly began to set attendance records in that arena in 1998 as soon as the team famously acquired Vince Carter through the NBA draft; a player pick that to this day is credited to helping the Raptors get off the ground as an organization. After setting attendance reports in their home stadium, the Raptors were presented with an opportunity to play at an all new arena and began calling the Air Canada Center, the arena where they still play their home games today, their home.
This move wasn’t the only way that the Toronto Raptors began the new millennium. In 2000, 2001 and 2002 the Toronto Raptors made the NBA Playoffs under the leadership of Vince Carter who lead the team to their first playoff series win in 2001 and eventually to the Eastern Conference Semifinals. Following the departure of Vince Carter, big name players such as Chris Bosch began stepping on and helped the Toronto Raptors continue on their success streak. To this day the Toronto Raptors are still seen as a solid team not only within their conference but in the entire league as well. They can be identified with their red, black and silver uniforms and under the leadership of their new ‘franchise face’ Andrea Bargnani. Although the Raptors have yet to win a much coveted NBA Championship, through their time as a league there is no denying that the Raptors have made their mark on this league.
