In the sport of NASCAR there is no more coveted gaol for drivers than to win the NASCAR Sprint Cup. The NASCAR Sprint Cup Series is a series of events held every year with 26 preliminary races and a 10 race playoff final event that takes the top 12 racers and pits them against each other to see who the best racer of the season is. During these 36 races, there is the AAA Texas 500, a stock car race held at the Texas Motor Speedway in Fort Worth, Texas.

The event, which is not to be confused with the AAA 400 race, has been held at the end of the season during early November, every year since the inaugural race event took place in 2005. The race has managed to stand out and be one of the most recognized events in the entire series for a number of reasons. First it is one of the only races to not be classified as either a night or day race. It purposefully starts in the late afternoon and goest through sunset and twilight ending at night. The AAA Texas 500 is also paid homage to in the 2006 hit comedy Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby.
The event is a total of 334 laps that make a 501 total race length. Even though the race is relatively new by NASCAR standards, it has already had two sets of double winners in Tony Stewart and Carl Edwards. Both drivers averaged some of the highest speeds of any NASCAR event in their wins at this track. While some of the races in the NASCAR Sprint Cup have restrictions that keep average speeds low, winners have averaged over 150 mph with every lap upon winning this particular event.
The high speeds of this race have long classified the AAA Texas 500 and have made it a fan favorite for many dedicated NASCAR watches who turn to the events to see high speed action.
