The Cleveland Cavaliers, often called the Cavs, is the professional basketball team that represents the city of Cleveland, Ohio. This American professional basketball team first formed in 1970 and were added to the NBA (National Basketball Association) as an expansion team. Since forming this team has gone on to produce a number of stars and is often credited for drafting big name eventual all-stars such as Brad Duagherty, Mark Price, Austin Carr and of course the team’s biggest star to date; LeBron James. The Cleveland Cavaliers have also had basketball greats such as Shaquille O’Neal, Walt Fraizer and Nate Thurmond on their team as well. They have gone on to retire six different numbers during their time as a team as well.
Today, the Cleveland Cavaliers are members of the Eastern Conference of the NBA and play in the Central Division of their conference. They have won three Central Division Championships during their time as a team and also won the Eastern Conference Championship in 2007 with LeBron James. During their more than four decades as an organization they have also had 18 total playoff seasons. During their time as a team the Cleveland Cavaliers have had a great deal of success and also faced numerous struggles as well but are known throughout the league as being one of the most resilient teams in the NBA.

The team currently plays their home games at the Quicken Loans Arena. After star LeBron James famously left the Cleveland Cavaliers for the Miami Heat and caused a great deal of backlash among fans, supporters of the Cleveland Cavaliers found resurgence when they drafted the NBA Rookie of the Year, Kyrie Irving. Just as LeBron James did when he first entered the team, Irving lifted the spirits of the Cleveland Cavaliers after they struggled through a tough loss streak following the loss of LeBron James. This bounce back from the Cleveland Cavaliers showed that the team, although they have faced several set backs during their time as a organization has the grit and perseverance to overcome even the most troubling of seasons and to rally with the support of the city of Cleveland behind them to find success time and time again.
