Los Angeles Galaxy Tickets
One of the charter members of the MLS, the Los Angeles Galaxy are widely considered the flagship franchise of the MLS. The team has reached a measure of success only D.C. United has been able to achieve, winning three MLS Cups, as well as four Supporters’ Shields, and the US Open Cup twice. The team began its tenure by playing at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California before moving to their current home, the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, a soccer-specific stadium. The team shares the stadium with Chivas USA.
The Galaxy began their inaugural season with a series of losing efforts before turning things around and clinched a playoff berth. The team ended up losing to D.C. United in the finals. After a series of near misses for winning the MLS Cup, in 2002, the team in their fourth appearance in the title game clinched their first MLS Cup by defeating the New England Revolution. 2005 brought fan favorite Landon Donovan to the team, as well as their second US Open Cup. Throughout the course of the league’s first ten seasons, the Galaxy made the playoffs in each of the seasons.
After missing the playoffs for the first time in franchise history in 2006, the team brought in David Beckham from Real Madrid. This created a large buzz around the team, despite their struggles on the field. 2008 brought a large amount of turnover in the management as the team missed the playoffs for the third consecutive year, a far cry from their ten straight playoff appearances. 2009 saw a return of success to the Galaxy as new coach Bruce Arena as well as the tandem of Donovan and Beckham led the team to the playoffs once again. 2011 saw the team win their fourth Supporters’ Shield and their third MLS Cup victory.
The Galaxy have a number of rivals, due to their location in California as well as their standing at the top of the fixtures for a number of years. Their rivalry with the San Jose Earthquakes, known as the California Classico, is one of the best rivalries in the MLS, due to both the hotly contested matches on the field as well as the geographic proximity of the two teams. The Galaxy also have a rivalry with Chivas USA due to their sharing of a stadium. The Galaxy also have an inter-conference rivalry with D.C. United due to their battle to become the most decorated franchise in the league, as well as their frequent meetings in the MLS Cup.
