Minnesota Wild History
The Minnesota Wild were established in 2000. The Wild played their first home game on October 11 against the Philadelphia Flyers. The Wild made their first ever playoff appearance in 2001-02 season and entered into the finals of western conference. They defeated the heavily favored Colorado Avalanche in the first round in seven games. Player Brunette scored the series clinching goal. In the semifinals of the Western Conference, the Wild defeated the fourth-seeded Vancouver Canucks in seven games. The Minnesota Wild became the first team in the playoff history to rule a seven-game series twice after facing elimination during Game Five. The team started the 2003–04 season with high hopes. After a rough start, the team finished the season by winning five of their last six games. All-Star winger Marian Gaborik returned from a groin injury in January 2007. He made an immediate impact and the team gave their second playoff appearance in 2008. The Minnesota Wild have always known for breaking records. In the following year, player Marian Gaborik made 42 goals and scored 83 points in a season. The Wild won their first Northwest Division title on April 3, 2008 by defeating the Calgary Flames with 3–1. The team play their home games at Xcel Energy Center.
