NASCAR Sprint Cup Series Tickets
Know By many as the Cup Series or simply the Sprint Cup, the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series in the top racing series in all of NASCAR. The series hasn’t always had the Sprint name to it, as it changes based on the current naming sponsors. The original name of the series was the Strictly Stock Series and since then has been known as several titles such as the Grand National Series, Winston Cup Series and the NEXTEL Cup Series.
There is no more watched or more coveted racing series in all of NASCAR and at the end of the series a champion driver is named. The champions, which are determined by a detailed points systems and after the first 26 races have been completed the drivers are seeded for the remaining ten races. The series first formed in 1949 and is held primarily in the Southeaster portion of the United States with more than half of the 36 races being held in this region.
While there are a number of races that actually make up the NASCAR Sprint Cup Series, there is no more prestigious or watched race in the event than the Daytona 500. The race annually pulls in tens of millions of television viewers alone and is one of the most noticeable events in all of NASCAR. However, the Daytona 500 is just one in a series of 36 high-octane and high speed races that make up the series.
Throughout the long history of the racing series the cup has seen a number of winners, and winners typically do not repeat often due to the difficulty of winning the entire 36 race series. However, a few very spectacular drivers have managed to take on this feat. Richard Petty and Dale Earnhardt have each tied for seven Cup Series championships during their careers. A more current competitor, Jimmie Johnson has also made some records as well with the most consecutive championships in the series with five championships in a row. These racers have shown that although it is a long and difficult process being a multi-time NASCAR Sprint Cup champion is possible, which only adds another element of excitement to this series for true fans of the sport.
