New York Knicks Tickets
The New York Knicks or the New York Knickerbockers as they are formally known as are one of the two professional basketball teams from New York City. This NBA team is part of the Atlantic Division of the Eastern Conference and one of the leading teams in their current division. The New York Knicks have had a long and detailed history during their time as an organization; a history that began back in 1946. When the New York Knicks first came together as an organization they were one of the founding members of the BBA the Basketball Association of America. In 1949 when the league merged with their rivals in the NBL (National Basketball League) they became the NBA that is known today.
The Knicks have not only made history for being one of the oldest teams in the NBA but they are also one of the most established as well. Besides the Boston Celtics they are the only other team in the NBA to be still located in the original city they started in. Today the team, which can be identified with their blue, orange, silver and white uniforms play their home games in the iconic New York City stadium of Madison Square Garden.
During their time as a team the New York Knicks have won two NBA Championships, eight conference titles, four division titles and have retired the numbers of eight different players. They have had several Hall of Fame players during their time as an organization including the iconic Patrick Ewing who is known as one of the most noticeable New York Knicks players today. They have also had iconic head coaches as well inucluding Red Holzman and Pat Riley.
The organization’s unique name, the Knickerbockers actually has a literature origin and came from the pseudonym used by Washington Irving in his book A History of New York. Eventually this became a name used to describe New Yorkers in general. This type of history that is so closely tied to the actual city of New York that the Knicks call home has made the New York Knicks one of the beloved teams in all of professional sports.
