Today, although boxing is not allowed in countries like Cuba, North Korea, and Norway, the sport is one of the biggest in the world; especially in the United States. Pro boxing of today is known for bringing in more revenue than many other sporting events and for hosting some of the biggest pay-per-view television events in modern entertainment. Some of the pro boxing champions of today are also some of the highest paid athletes in modern sports thanks to the high purses given to the participants and winners of these boxing matches. Success such as this is what has made pro boxing in the U.S. such a central part of modern sporting events.
