Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and the Memphis International Cup Tickets
Held annually in Memphis, Tennessee, the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and the Memphis International Cup are actually two separate but correlating professional tennis tournaments held at the same time. The Regions Morgan Keegan Championships is a men’s only ATP Tour event that has been in place since 1976. The Memphis International Cup on the other hand is a WTA Tour event that came to Memphis in 2002. Both of these tournaments are held indoors at the Racquet Club of Memphis on hard courts, making them some of the most unique tournaments in both mens and women’s tennis. With most matches taking place outdoors, these tournaments provide a unique playing surface for competitors and an unique atmosphere for fans.
Both the Regions Morgan Keegan Championships and the Memphis International Cup support the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. During the history of the event some of the top men’s and women’s players and the top men’s and women’s doubles teams have participated in and won the event. Players like Lindsay Davenport, Andy Roddick, Venus Williamsm San Querrey and Maria Sharapova have all won the event in their respective categories. However, due to the usually foreign indoor surfaces the event is known for consistently having different winners and for constantly having some of the closest matches of the season.
Held in February, the event is also a favorite among fans who are looking to watch their favorite players live outside of their traditional summer tournament schedules. In addition to the week long round of exciting play, the tournament also hosts a number of other events, designed to not only entertain fans of the sport but to help raise money and awareness for the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. With a great cause supporting the tournament and a reputation for having some of the most exciting matches in tennis, there is a lot for fans to expect with the annual Regions Morgan Keegan Championship and the Memphis International Cup play. Whether you are a fan of singles or doubles, men’s or women’s there is no shortage of action in this exciting weekend of professional tennis.
