Cirque du Soleil - Quidam Tickets
Cirque du Soleil Quidam is the latest touring show to the Cirque du Soleil family. It is a celebration of all who cries out, sings and dreams within their own self. It first originated as a big top show since its premiere in Montreal, but since then it has been converted into an arena format when it started in North America in 2010. Originally, Quidam made its debut in 1996 and finally made it to San Diego this year.
The production delivers an array of acrobatic performances with breathtaking artistry. All of the performances have taken place under the blue-and-yellow Grand Chapiteau at the Del Mar Fairgrounds.
Quidam is Latin for “anonymous passer-by,” which is an imaginative and intense journeying that transforms an alienated world of a little girl into a world of place of hope and connection. The young girl’s name is Zoé, who is an alienated and ignored by her parents. She dreams up the whimsical world of Quidam as a means of escaping her own life.
The individual acts are all astonishing. A favorite is the German Wheel, which involves a single acrobat whirling across the stage in a large metal contraption. The Aerial Contortion is another standout; both are beautiful yet painful to watch as a woman twists and writhes while suspended above the audience by a length of red silk. Another highlight is Banique, which is a troupe of acrobats leaping through the air propelled and caught solely by their teammates.
The show does not take spectators to an imaginary realm of fanciful, larger-than-life characters. Rather, it is an examination of our own world, which is inhabited by real people with real life concerns. Quidam conveys emotion, but it is more raw and intense, more dramatic and personal. Quidam highlights our frailties and our anguish in the face of the new millennium that lies before us."
Quidam has had a lot of success and has been considered one of the companies’ greatest productions by their fans and critics. The production is something that words cannot do it justice and is something that truly has to be seen to be believed. The show captures the spirit of the production admirably as well as the dreamlike quality of the other Cirque shows.
