Cirque du Soleil - Totem Tickets
Cirque du Soleil Totem is a touring show which premiered April 2010. The show originally started touring in Montreal and Quebec Canada next went to Amsterdam, and then went to San Francisco. Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was found in 1984 by Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier. It is named as the contemporary circus, which is a theatrical and character driven approach without animals performing.
The theme of the show is about the evolution of mankind from its primordial, amphibian state to the aspiration of flight. There are a variety of different scenes throughout the show including; swamps, lakes, night skies and other scenes of natural environments.
Totem illustrates the story through visual and acrobatic language while going through the evolutionary progress of the different species. It is journey of learning and exploring the different ties that bind man to other species and finding out about their potential in life. There are over 50 performers from 19 different countries part of the show.
Some of the acts include; swinging acrobats dress as amphibians representing origins of the earth, stuntmen balancing on high bars as flying cosmonauts attempting to defy gravity, a sexy trapeze duo plays out the ups and downs of romance, dancers weaving hoops around their bodies while dressed as Amerindians, a scientist who juggles glowing balls inside a cone-shaped beaker and several other creative and outstanding acts can be seen.
The musical components of the show were selected from composers Guy Dubuc and Marc Lessard which include instruments and rhythms from around the world. The music includes Native American, Spanish and Indian music. The music goes right along with the different scenes of the show, bringing life to the characters.
Totem is said to be an exciting display of human strength, creativity, evolution and destiny. If you want to explore something artistically different and creative, Totem is a must see show.
