Cirque du Soleil - Viva Elvis is a show located on the Las Vegas Strip paying tribute to the life and music of the King of Rock ‘n’ Roll, Elvis Presley. Cirque du Soleil and Elvis Presley Enterprises partnered and created Viva Elvis which first debut in February 2010. The various acts consist of acrobatics and dances are staged to Elvis Presley’s music.
Cirque du Soleil is an entertainment company based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada and was found in 1984 by Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier. It is named as the contemporary circus, which is a theatrical and character driven approach without animals performing.
Viva Elvis highlights the most memorable moments of Elvis and brings them back to life in Las Vegas. Some of the acts include; “Blue Suede Shoes,” “Don’t Be Cruel,” “One Night,” “All Shook Up,” “Saved,” “Got a Lot of Livin’ to Do,” “Heartbreak Hotel,” “Love Me Tender,” “Return to Sender,” “Are you Lonesome Tonight,” “Jailhouse Rock” and several other famous songs by Elvis.
Elvis was all about music, so in Viva Elvis you will only hear his voice as the male singer. The show has 77 cast members including four female singers and nine musicians. Viva Elvis is all about celebrating the life of Elvis including a variety of dances, acrobatics and music. You will feel like you are at an Elvis concert because the music will be loud. While music is played, there will be plenty to watch too.
During the show, you can expect to see memorable moments like a female singer singing “Love Me Tender” with Elvis. When “Burning Love” is played, you will see various movie clips of Elvis’s career. Home videos of Elvis and Priscilla’s lives together were played while dancers and roller skaters are performing with “Can’t Help Falling in Love.”
Finally, the show wouldn’t be complete if it wasn’t for “Viva Las Vegas.” Elvis loved his fans in Las Vegas and because of that, it is a spectacular performance. The show wouldn't be complete without a tribute to Elvis' Vegas years with "Viva Las Vegas." Showgirls wearing colorful costumes parade down a staircase and dancers are decked out in Elvis jumpsuits.
