Movin Out History
The Movin Out musical showcase the friendship of six lifelong friends, who live on the Long Island. It unfolds their experiences with the Vietnam War. The main characters are picked up from the Billy Joel tunes, such as high school sweethearts Brenda and Eddie ("Scenes from an Italian Restaurant"), James ("James"), Judy ("Why Judy Why") and Tony (Anthony in "Movin' Out"). On October 24, 2002, the Movin Out musical was premiered on Broadway at the Richard Rodgers Theater. After 1,303 performances and 28 previews, it was closed on December 11, 2005. They went for their first national tour on January 27, 2004 and ran for three years. The Movin Out first national tour completed 1,111 performances and ended on January 21, 2007. It went full house in 82 U.S. cities and received excellent reviews from the people. After the success of their first tour, the soon planned their second national tour. It was opened in Atlantic City on June 14, 2007 and in the following year, the Movin Out opened their third National Tour in La Crosse, Wisconsin on November 4. It had Matthew Friedman, Kyle Martin and Jon Abrams in the lead role of Piano Man. The vocals are performed by pianist and band and no dancer sing the song, making the show, a rock ballet.
