Pageant of the Masters Tickets
Every year, since 1933 the Pageant of the Masters is held by the Festival of Arts in Laguna Beach, California. The annual festival is characterized by its tableaux vivants or its “living pictures.” These living pictures are actually classical and contemporary works of art that are recreated by actual people. These standing actors are made to look almost identical the original paintings and use costumers, makeup, lighting, backdrops and props to make their interpretations of some of the most famous works of art in the world. Since the pageant first started decades ago, there have been two events; first the Festival of the Arts and then the Pageant and since it first came together 80 years ago it has been a tradition in Southern California.
Most years there will be a different theme at the Pageant of the Masters and since the event has grown there have been other art shows and events added to the pageant to make it a larger artistic experience for those who go to see it. In addition to the dedicated volunteers who help make the works of art come to life, the pageant also showcases numerous talented and up and coming artists. Turing the main performance of the show, audiences can enjoy the ninety minutes of the ‘living pictures’ as they come to life.
The main presentation of the show takes place in an outdoor amphitheater and is accompanied by a professional orchestra, original score and live narration. The Pageant of the Masters has been long considered the best presentation of its kind and one of the most unique artistic events in the modern art world today. The pageant is typically held for several weeks at a time. While the accompanying Festival of the Arts typically lasts longer, the festival’s showcase piece, the Pageant of the Masters will typically be held through most of the summer season and for the majority of July and August. The presentation of the live paintings typically start at 8:30 PM and live shows are held every night. Those who want to see the renowned Pageant of the Masters live event will have to purchase tickets separate from their Festival of the Arts tickets in order to see the living picture event live.
