Utah Utes Men’s Basketball Tickets
The Utah Utes men’s basketball team is a Division I program for the University of Utah. The team is located in Salt Lake City, Utah and plays their home games at the Jon M. Huntsman Center. The Jon M. Huntsman Center has a capacity of 15,000 people and opened in 1969 . The team plays in the Pacific 12 Conference. The team is currently coached by Larry Krystkowiak. Krystkowiak did not fare particularly well in his first season, finishing an abysmal 6-25 in the school’s first year in the Pac-12.
The Utes have a storied program, going back to their beginning in 1908. It took only until their third season to win their first conference championship, winning in 1910. Success continued throughout the pre-war period as they quickly established themselves as one of the top teams nationally. The team made its first NCAA Tournament appearance in 1944, where they went on to win the whole tournament. That would be the school’s only NCAA Tournament championship. The team would go on to make the tournament 26 times in their history, fifth most nationally. Under coach Vadal Peterson, the team went 385-230 and the team won their only national championship. After struggling for a while in the late 1960s and 1970s, between 1991 and 2005, the team made twelve NCAA Tournament appearances including five in the Sweet Sixteen and a run to the National Championship game in 1998. Under roach Rick Majerus, the team finished 323-95 with ten NCAA Tournament appearances including four that made it to the Sweet Sixteen or farther.
The Utes have been quite successful in the NBA Draft, with ten players selected in the first round and 34 players selected overall. Their most recent selection was Andrew Bogut with the first overall pick in the 2005 draft. Bogut was the team’s only first overall selection in school history.
The Utes have a longstanding rivalry with the BYU Cougars. Both teams are located in Utah, just 45-minutes apart from one another. The religious aspect of the game adds an extra piece to this already strong rivalry. The two teams have met continually since 1909, and since that point have faced off against one another nearly 250 times.
