Gibson Amphitheater Tickets
Set into the popular Universal City area of Los Angeles lies the Gibson Amphitheater, an indoor entertainment arena known for hosting some of the most popular and widely visited events in all of Los Angeles. This unique venue, which is corporately sponsored by Gibson Guitar Corporation is actually the third largest mid-sized venue in the state of California. Its size alone and its unique construction allows for room not only for major concert events but for other great amenities that guests can enjoy as well.
The theatre can seat over 6,100 guests for concerts and includes 6,089 chair-back seats on the main and mezzanine levels of the theatre. One of the most interesting facets of the construction of the Gibson Amphitheater is that it was actually first constructed to be an outdoor venue. The original theatre opened in the summer of 1973 and kicked off with a production of the show, Jesus Christ Superstar. The Gibson Amphitheater’s first production was a hit and its success allowed the production to be extended until cold weather eventually caused the show to close. This event caused an early remodeling of the theatre a few years later where the venue was reconstructed to be an indoor theatre. Eventually more work was done to improve the acoustics of the building and to bring the Gibson Amphitheater to the current standards it is today.
The only two mid-sized venues in California to surpass the size of the Gibson theatre are the Nokia Theatre and the Shrine Auditorium; which are both also located in Los Angeles. However, the amazing acoustics in the Gibson Amphitheater often make this venue the popular choice for many events. This is why many large events such as major concerts, the MTV Movie Awards and the Teen Choice Awards are often held in this venue instead of a slightly larger amphitheater. No matter what type of event attendees are going to at the Gibson Amphitheater, they can expect that a trip to this famous theatre will be met with comfortable seating, a breathtaking atmosphere and wonderful acoustics that truly make all types of live performances an unforgettable experience.
