This new stadium was opened on April 4, 2006 and was constructed directly across the street from the original stadium. The location where the original Busch Stadium was has been demolished and an area of the city, to be called Ballpark Village, is set to be developed on top of the old stadium’s location.
The current stadium has a total seating capacity of 43,975, however, they set a stadium record in October of 2011, when the stadium held 47,399; a record that was set when the Cardinals won their eleventh World Championship in franchise history. Every year the University of Missouri also plays a single game at Busch Stadium and Saint Louis University’s baseball team has also held events there as well. Big concerts such as those from Dave Matthews Band, U2, The Eagles and the Dixie Chicks have all been held in the stadium as well.
