Chesapeake Energy Arena Tickets
In downtown Oklahoma City, fans and visitors alike can find one of the city’s most recognizable buildings; the Chesapeake Energy Arena. This multi-purpose arena is known for hosting a number of entertainment events, but is primarily known for being the home of the city’s NBA team the Oklahoma City Thunder. The center was previously known as the Ford Center and for a year, the Oklahoma City Arena, but is now under the name of Chesapeake; a local energy company. Even with all of the different name changes many fans still refer to the arena as either “Loud City,” “The Thunderdome” or “The Peake.” The center was first opened in 2002 and since then has created a strong presence within the Oklahoma City community.
In addition to being the home of the Oklahoma City Thunder, The Chesapeake Energy Arena also hosts many major concerts, family events, ice shows and sports events from local schools. Thanks to its convenient location in downtown Oklahoma City next to I-40 the Chesapeake Energy Arena is convenient for many of the city’s residents to get to which has helped make it a popular event hosting area for the city. For basketball games the arena can hold around 18,200 people, and for most concerts it can hold around 19,700. However, the company also plays host to arena football games, where it can house 17,868 fans, hockey games where it can hold over 18,000 and WWE events where it will hold around 14,700.
Even though it is only around a decade old, the arena has already gone under an improvement, involving a $121.6 million initiative to expand that facility and to build a practice arena for the Oklahoma City Thunder. In addition to this new practice facility, new office space, concessions and lounges were also added to the arena as well as a Kids Zone and flooring upgrades throughout. The new redesign also feature an NBA team store and new press room that will add to the existing amenities within the arena. Currently the arena features a full service ‘club’ restaurant and bar, an Irish Pub, a court side club area, 3,380 club seats and 49 private suites so that fans can get the ultimate viewing experience no matter what type of game experience they are looking to have.
