FedEx Field Tickets
Originally known as the Jack Kent Stadium, the football stadium now serving as the home to the Washington Redskins football team is known as FedEx Field. This massive football stadium is located in an unincorporated area of Maryland in Prince George’s County, and although it is not technically in Washington DC, it packs massive Washington Redskins spirit with every game. The FedEx Field is currently the largest venue in the NFL in terms of regular capacity. It currently holds 85,000 fans with every home game and before changes were made in 2011, it could hold 91,704 fans with seating alone. The stadium first opened in 1997 after breaking ground in 1996 and is currently owned by Daniel Snyder.
While it is known mostly in the area for being the home of the Washington Redskins, FedEx Field actually has a number of notable events that have made up its short but significant history. Annually, the arena hosts the Prince George’s Classic; a college football game which traditionally is played between two historically black universities. There have also been numerous other significant college football match ups to sporadically appear at this field as well.Although there is a nearby soccer field at RFK Stadium in Washington D.C., FedEx Field has also hosted a number of notable soccer match ups. This includes a quarterfinal double header in the 1999 Women’s World Cup, The World Series of Football matchup between Chelsea F.C. and D.C. United as well as several international friendly matches.
While FedEx Field may have hosted numerous significant sporting events, during its time as a stadium, it has also held a number of large concerts as well that have brought in fans from all over the area. Performers such as The Rolling Stones, Bruce Springsteen and the E Street Band, U2, Linkin Park and Paul McCartney have all performed at the stadium in the past. Whether for a college football showcase, a concert experience or a home Redskins game, anyone who has been to the massive FedEx Field understands the appeal of this stadium. With few other stadiums around the country being able to compare to the sheer magnitude of this stadium, there is no denying that a visit to FedEx Field is an experience that must be enjoyed first hand to be believed.
