Heinz Field Tickets
Located in the North Shore area of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania you can find the massive water front stadium known as Heinz Field. This stadium famously stands along the Ohio River and was designed to be a center point of this popular Pittsburgh neighborhood. The field features all natural grass and is surrounding by a massive arena of seats which can hold around 60,050 seated fans for most sporting events.
Although Heinz Field has hosted a number of events it is known primarily for being the home of the Pittsburgh Steelers of the NFL. This field is also home to the University of Pittsburgh’s mens football team as well; making the field a member of both the NFL and the NCAA. Once it was opened in 2001, fans rejoiced at the addition of this new state of the art facility and watched the team’s old stadium, the Three Rivers Stadium be imploded immediately. Upon opening the stadium’s naming rights were purchased by H.J. Heinz Company and the naming rights remain the company’s name.
Even though it primarily features football events, different events have also been held at Heinz Field. In addition to several exhibition games, the stadium famously hosted the outdoor 2011 NHL Winter Classic on January 1, 2011. The game featured a matchup against the NHL Pittsburgh Penguins and their rivals the Washington Capitals. In 2012, the stadium also became the first major professional stadium to host a Women’s Football Alliance National Championship game. However, for most the field is known for being the home of the Steelers. In fact, ever home Steelers games at Heinz Field has been sold out since the arena opened; continuing with a sell out streak that actually goes back to 1972.
Those who visit Heinz Field can not only expect a sold out crowd on home Steelers game nights but a great deal of Steeler’s pride in the arenas “Great Hall.” The hall, which can be found inside the stadium features a collection of memorabilia, awards and special recognitions from both the Steelers and the Panthers. This hall is just one of the many ways that Steelers and Panthers fans can get in the spirit of supporting their favorite teams whenever they make a trip to the famous Heinz Field in Pittsburgh.
