The stadium first opened in 1998 when the Baltimore Ravens were first added as an NFL team. Although there are many newer stadiums within the league M&T Bank Stadium has long been and continues to be one of the most praised stadiums in professional football because of its fans amenities and facilities. It is also praised for its easy access. In addition to having nearby parking and ample space for tailgating many praise the stadium for its close location to the city’s Light Rail public train. Although it has gone under several name changes since it first debuted at the Ravens Stadium at Camden Yards; M&T Bank Stadium is widely known throughout the city for its correlation to the local bank chain.
The overall seating capacity for M&T Bank Stadium during football games in 71,008 fans; a number that has increased significantly since it first opened in 1998. There are five different levels in the stadium include two levels of suites. Even though most see the stadium as simply being the “Raven’s Stadium” M&T Bank Stadium has also hosted a number of other events. It is used as a venue for the Johns Hopkins University men’s lacrosse team as an alternate for their home field and for the Major League Lacrosse’s Baltimore Bayhawks team as well. It has also been home to events such as English Premier League games and Monster Jam events. Many big name performers such as the Foo Fighters, Blink 182, the Goo Good Dolls, U2 and Billy Idol have all played at M&T Bank Stadium as well.
