Located in the New York Metropolitan Area, in East Rutherford, New Jersey is the expansive MetLife Stadium. This stadium is part of the Medowlands Sports Complex. Currently, the MetLife Stadium is home to both the New York Giants and the New York Jets of the NFL and the new stadium was built adjacent to the former Giants Stadium in the area. After the stadium was unveiled in 2010, by 2011 the naming rights of this stadium had been purchased and the arena was officially known as the MetLife Stadium. The construction of the stadium also garnered a great deal of attention. Costing $1.6 billion to construct made MetLife Stadium the most expensive stadium ever built. This is an expense that many fans of the sport find to be a great bonus as this stadium features all types of bells, whistles and state-of-the-art additions that only add to the experience of visiting this stadium.
From the moment that the MetLife Stadium was unveiled to the public this FieldTurf stadium began garnering a great deal of attention. Not only was it setting records and drawing in numerous New York football fans but it also because the first New York area stadium to ever host a Super Bowl. This announcement came in 2010 when it was revealed that Super Bowl XLVIII would be held at the MetLife Stadium; being the first time a Super Bowl was not only in New York but that it would be in a non-domed stadium in a cold weather city. This decision by the NFL to still host the Super Bowl in this impressive stadium only added to the notion that this MetLife Stadium is truly a one-of-a-kind construction and a true tribute to the greatness of American football.
