Rogers Arena Tickets
Although it is often called “The Phone Boo” and “The Cable Box” or even “The Garage” the indoor sports arena at 800 Griffiths Way in downtown Vancouver, British Columbia is officially named Rogers Arena. This arena was created specifically to fill the city’s needs for an indoor sports arena and was created to replace the Pacific Coliseum in Vancouver. The addition of this arena began thanks to the 1995 expansion of the NBA when the league added two Canadian expansion teams in Vancouver and Toronto. To date, the Rogers arena is used mainly for ice hockey and basketball. It was the home to the Vancouver Grizzlies of the NBA from 1995-2001 and is still currently home of the Vancouver Canucks of the NHL.
For ice hockey events the arena can hold 18,890 seated fans. Those who attend Rogers Arena for basketball games can expect a seating capacity of 19,700 fans. There are also 12 hospitality suites, 2,195 club seats and 88 luxury suites inside Rogers Arena as well. Although it is known by many in the city as being the home of the Vancouver Canucks; this arena was also quite prominent during the 2010 Winter Olympics. During this time it was the site for all of the ice hockey events in the games and even went under a temporary name chance to be known as the “Canada Hockey Place” during the Olympics. The stadium has also been home to the NHL All-Star Game, NBA Drafts, and big touring performers such as Janet Jackson, the Spice Girls, Funs N’ Roses, Blink 182 and Britney Spears. The venue has also held the Juno Awards as well.
Beginning in 2006 the arena went under several upgrades not only for the upcoming Olympics but for all types of entertainment events to improve the technology in the arena. The result were millions of dollars of new LED scoreboards that were designed to help keep fans focused on the action. However, this isn’t the only addition that has been proposed to the arena. As of 2012 there are plans to build three new high-rise towers around the stadium as part of the building to build up the area around Rogers Arena and bring more action to the stadium. Fortunately for fans even with this massive expansion slotted to begin in the next few years, the construction won’t impact the actual arena and fans can still enjoy coming to Rogers arena for all of their favorite indoor sporting events.
