The Fillmore Auditorium Tickets
The historic music venue the Fillmore Auditorium has long been a staple not only in the city of San Francisco, California but in the entire music scene as well. The venue was first brought to fame by the likes of Bill Graham. During the mid 1960s when the Fillmore first saw a major spike in popularity, it became known for being the center of the psychedelic music counterculture and featured a number of notable rock bands. Groups such as The Doors, The Grateful Dead, Carlos Santana, The Allman Brothers Band, The Who, Pink Floyd and Elton John all performed at this venue at the time.
While mostly known for its association to rock, Bill Graham had dreams of making the Fillmore Auditorium a much more comprehensive and unique venue. This is why he brought in non-rock groups and performers such as Miles Davis and Aretha Franklin and also opened up the venue to poetry readings. For a file the Fillmore Auditorium was moved to a new location called the Fillmore West because of its bigger size. The original Fillmore Auditorium briefly became a club called the Elite Club until Graham reopened the original location in the mid 1980s.
After several issues following the death of Graham and earthquake related damage, the Fillmore closed again and didn’t reopen until the mid 1990s. At that time the band The Smashing Pumpkins played a now famous unannounced show to welcome the venue back into the popular music scene of the day. After this reopening the Fillmore Auditorium quickly rose back up to fame and once again became a hot spot in the San Francisco area for all types of musical performances; primarily feature rock groups. Just as it was in the early years, the Fillmore Auditorium was known for providing an intimate setting for fans looking to get up close and personal with their favorite bands and for incorporating things such as laser light shows into all of the performances.
Typically the venue can seat around 1,200 guests, but it has been known to exceed its normal capacity for many shows. The success of this establishment under the management of Live Nation has caused several new Fillmore Auditoriums to open around the country in an attempt to bring this same unique environment to cities around the country looking for a comfortable and inviting music venue to view their favorite bands in.
