Found in the popular area of Santa Barbara, California is the outdoor amphitheater known as the Santa Barbara Bowl. This outdoor theatre, which was originally built back in 1936 is open during most of the year and typically hosts concerts from April through October. Typically the theatre will host 27 different major concerts every season, with most of the events being musical concerts.

While there are several outdoor bowls in the California area the Santa Barbara Bowl is often considered one of the best in the country thanks to its breathtaking views and its guest amenities. The theatre is nestled amongst the backdrop of a beautiful forest of Pacific Oaks, yet still located just minutes from downtown Santa Barbara. The venue contains several areas for guests to gather and enjoy the natural surroundings of this area of Santa Barbara that include lighted pathways for those who want to take in the beauty of the area when concerts are not in session.
Although much of the original concept remains with the Santa Barbara Bowl, it has gone through several major renovations that lasted from 1994-2012 and were headed by the Santa Barbara Bowl’s owner the Santa Barbara Bowl Foundation. Since the bowl has been such a prominent part of Santa Barbara for so many decades a great deal of the work done to preserve the Santa Barbara Bowl is actually done by volunteers. There are several donors and organizations that continue to provide improvements to the Santa Barbara Bowl in hopes to keep it well maintained for years to come.
Currently the Santa Barbara Bowl holds 4,562 guests comfortably and new amenities have been added to make the viewing experience more comfortable for guests. There is both ground seating and elevated seating around the bowl that provide a clear view of the stadium’s main pavilion. This unique structure and the beautiful setting of the bowl have brought in several big name performers and the recent renovations of the electrical systems at the arena have made it possible for all types of performers to use the stage.
In the past few years big names such as Florence and the Machine, Jane’s Addition, Peter Gabriel, Katy Perry the Zac Brown Band, and Snow Patrol have all performed to massive crowds at the Santa Barbara Bowl.
