US Cellular Field Tickets
The US Cellular field in Chicago is one of the many fields and arenas owned by the US Cellular phone company. The Chicago US Cellular Field is a baseball park formerly known as Comiskey Park. The park is owned by the Illinois Sports Facilities Authority and is nestled in Chicago’s popular Armour Square neighborhood. Due to its central location, many Chicago public transportation systems have been modified to provide easy access to the ballpark.
The field is most known as being the home of the Major League Baseball team the Chicago White Sox. The ballpark has been the home to the White Sox since the organization first opened, although the actual stadium has gone through several renovations throughout the years. The field has served as the destination for numerous White Sox home games and MLB sponsored events including the famous MLB All-Star Game.
Many choose to acknowledge the rich history of this park which was used for 81 years by the Chicago White Sox before it went under a major redesign in 1991. In 2003, it was renamed as the U.S. Cellular Field, although many sports announcers wishing to pay homage to the history of the park still refer to the field as Comiskey. This is because before its remodel, Comiskey Park was the oldest in-use ballpark in the MLB. The detailed history of the field also makes it a popular tourist attraction for baseball fans visiting the Chicago area. In the sidewalk outside of the US Cellular Field, fans can still see the location of the Comiskey original home plate, which is now a marble plaque.
There are several seating options in the park, including suites, bleachers and stnading room options. The seating capacity of the field was, at one point up toe 47,000, but in 2004 the capacity was decreased to around 40,000 patrons, although the park is known to exceed capacity during major games. The area surrounding the field is filled with several sit down dining establishments, sports bars, and private clubs available for rental. Although the stadium has a large seating capacity for the city of Chicago very few events are held at the stadium that are not related to the MLB.
